Goodness galore :-)

April 4, 2011

More updates! Try to control your excitement. 😛

The new flower girl dresses arrived today. I’m very happy I purchased them as pictures don’t do them justice:

Pink Marie didn’t disappoint! I think the girls are going to look super cute in them.

‘Member this post last Monday?

Here I sit, seven days into my master plan to shed some pounds, tone up, etc., poised and ready to update you on the awesomely successful week I had. Here’s a reminder of what I pledged:

  • I will make sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.
  • I will log everything I eat in my food journal.
  • I will exercise at least five days a week – be it walking on the trail with Randy, Jillian’s 30 Day Shred, or Power 90.

I can tell you I only succeeded in increasing my water intake. It’s a step forward, right? Right.

I also started using MyFitnessPal to track my food, water and exercise. For almost two years I’ve been using NutriMirror as my online food diary. While I like the graph functions and nutritional breakdown of the latter, the former has one crucial element that swayed me … An app for my phone.

Now I don’t have to be near a computer to log my food. And, let’s face it; my phone is very rarely out of reach. 😉

Last Monday, however, I did sweat out my extra water when Jillian Michaels kicked my ass for 20 minutes. The first exercise routine of 30 Day Shred is no joke, ya’ll. My quads , biceps and shoulders were sore for five days. Part of that was my own doing as I attempted to do the circuit training-like exercises with 8-lbs weights. Unfortunately, the sore muscles deterred me from conquering those moves.

So, I began again today.

I’m happy to report I’m two glasses of water beyond my Eight-A-Day goal. I logged everything I put into my mouth (even the two Hershey’s Kisses). I also have a friend who gave me a diet plan to follow, so I’m going to give it a shot. I even listened to Jillian tell me, “You don’t get to exercise for 20 minutes and take a break.”

Yes, ma’m!

I anticipate being sore again tomorrow morning, but it’s time to push through. No pain, no gain, right?

A hefty situation ;-)

March 28, 2011

I have a slight problem, guys …

My wedding dress doesn’t fit.

It’s not terribly tight; however, I would prefer to breathe on my wedding day. And not look like a stuffed sausage, of course. 😉

Like I posted before, I learned a long time ago to accept that I’ll never be a size two (heck, not even a size 12) or have great abs; however, I would work to be the best and healthiest me I could be.

I have to tell you, it SUCKED realizing the once-too-big dress is now too small. And not because I’m worried about being self-conscious, but because I feel like I let myself down.

I really concentrated on eating right and exercising last year. Although I didn’t lose a lot of weight (more toning than anything), I could tell a difference. I even managed to continue a steady workout regimen when I began my part-time job.

Until basketball season started that is. It wasn’t just one Saturday a week occupying my time; it was often two-three-four days every week. For anyone who has worked two jobs (or have kids … or is a care-giver … or any number of activities that extend beyond 40 hours a week), you understand how physically and emotionally draining it can be.

What were once priorities (eating right and exercising) quickly took a back seat to everything else.

While I was able to maintain my weight between Nov. and Feb.  (even losing four pounds at one point), I lost what muscle tone I had acquired. After basketball season ended, however, I quickly gained those four pounds (and then some) back.

Now, with less than 40 days (YIKES!!) until my first fitting, I’m scrambling to get back on the bandwagon. I’m making a late New Year’s resolution … or Lent resolution (considering not cussing didn’t work out so well) … whatever strikes your fancy:

  • I will make sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.
  • I will log everything I eat in my food journal.
  • I will exercise at least five days a week – be it walking on the trail with Randy, Jillian’s 30 Day Shred, or Power 90.

We’ll see what happens! I’ll keep you posted. 🙂
